Kevin Oh Military Discharged on June 17: Newlywed Life with Gong Hyo-jin Begins in the U.S.
On June 11, Kevin Oh’s agency announced, “We are delighted to share the news of Kevin Oh’s discharge with fans who cherish and support him. Throughout his military service, Kevin Oh has always carried the warm encouragement and love from his fans in his heart, completing his duties in good health.”
The agency added, “We are grateful for the warm support shown to Kevin Oh and Gong Hyo-jin as a couple. After his discharge, Kevin Oh plans to express his gratitude to fans through various activities in music, broadcasting, and performances.”
On June 17, Kevin Oh was officially discharged from the army with the rank of sergeant. Sharing the news via his personal social media account, he wrote, “I’ve been discharged safely,” alongside a photo of himself in uniform.
Earlier, his agency T Cask ENT stated, “He has completed his military service in good health, always keeping the warm support and love from fans close to his heart. He plans to resume various activities such as releasing a new album, appearing on broadcasts, and performing in concerts after his discharge.”
Previously, Gong Hyo-jin and Kevin Oh held their wedding in New York in October 2022. A year later, in December 2023, Kevin Oh enlisted in the South Korean army as an active-duty soldier. At the time, his agency stated, “Kevin Oh decided to enlist to expand his musical career in Korea and build a stable family life with his wife. Thanks to Korea, he has been able to pursue a new chapter in his music career, and he wishes to fulfill his military duty and continue sharing heartfelt music with fans and the public.” Kevin Oh will complete his service and be discharged on June 17.
After their marriage, the couple couldn’t fully enjoy their newlywed life due to Gong Hyo-jin’s drama filming schedule and other commitments. Gong Hyo-jin sent her husband off to the military just a year after their wedding, and now they are finally set to begin their proper newlywed life. Recently, Gong Hyo-jin revealed plans to move to the U.S. after Kevin Oh’s discharge to start their life together.
While Kevin Oh was serving, Gong Hyo-jin appeared on You Quiz on the Block and shared, “My husband is in the military, so I’ve been living as a ‘military girlfriend’ alone. I spent many nights in tears before coming here,” expressing her deep affection for her husband, who is ten years her junior.
